You don’t have to get behind a cult leader to improve your health.
“There are nutrition zealots on every corner of every spectrum, eager to tell you all about why their dietary ideology is superior.
There is no ‘best diet’.
This is why we must focus on Nutritional Biochemistry Principles & not Keto Sarah’s latest blogpost.”
-Ray Zingler on X
I am not a nutritionist nor am I a dietician.
But here is what I do know.
Like many things in life, we overcomplicate the concepts of diet and nutrition.
And for dumb, but understandable reason when you factor in the “diet” industry is only a few weight loss pills away from being a $200 Billion Business. Yes, Billion with a B. (Per EMR.)
Here’s the truth about diets.
Like all training programs out there, they all work. That is until they don’t.
Keto, Atkins, Mediterranean, Paleo, Vegan, you name it. They all work, initially.
The problem, however, with ALL these diets is that they are focused on the diet and not focused on the consumer.
“Huh?”
What I mean is that YOU must go to the diet, it doesn’t come to you.
And if we’re looking for a diet to best benefit ourselves, should we not be looking for the most sustainable way to positively impact ourselves?
As much as nutritional biochemistry from a fundamental, lay, perspective isn’t too terribly complex, our bodies are undoubtedly supercomputers.
For us to sit here and think that a one size fits all “diet plan” that is pushed heavily on Billy Carnivore’s Blog or Sally Sue’s Vegan Cooking Channel is the answer is absolutely ridiculous.
There is so much that goes into your own personal body, your own goals, taste preferences, digestive abilities, lifestyle, & etc.
This makes creating a more personalized diet to fit your needs and desires far more effective than reading one article that tells you this diet is good and then the very next article telling you the diet is bad.
Therefore understanding principles of nutrition are far more important than the diet “that guy” created.
Do you want to gain weight? Increase caloric consumption.
Do you want to lose weight? Decrease caloric consumption.
Are you looking to decrease blood pressure? Cholesterol? Make dietary choices that will aid in the decrease of your scores. (Make sure you stay active, too.)
It’s not rocket science. Learn basic principles of nutrition and then apply them.
You don’t need to get behind a cult leader to improve your health.
