Youth Athletes Need Professional S&C Coaching

College & Professional Athletes have Professional Performance Coaches, but Jimmy can "do it on his own?" Interesting.

College & Professional Athletes have Professional Performance Coaches, but Jimmy can “do it on his own?” Interesting.

“Cheap globo gyms & social media make access to metal & improper training prescription easier to perform than ever.

Consequently, the need for real coaching, especially for our youth, has never been higher.

The good ‘ol globo gym.

What better place for our KIDS, who don’t know what they’re doing in the weight room, to take their highly impressionable, competitive egos and put them on full display in an unsupervised environment.

“Yeah, but my kid knows what he is doing!”

No, he doesn’t.

I spent nearly every waking hour of my life from 14-18 years old being coached, relentlessly reading, studying, and applying everything training and I still had no idea what I was doing.

Your kid consuming TikTok garbage and wearing designer gym clothes doesn’t have it figured out because puberty naturally started rounding out his shoulders, sorry Jim.

Just because the globo gym is “cheap” and your kid follows some “jacked” (chemically enhanced) bro on a social media platform where the name of the game is to manipulate consumers for personal gain, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

In fact, there isn’t a worse idea, if we’re being honest.

Not only is the “training” (typically wasting time, playing basketball, or doing some sort of random upper body work out, while intermittently playing on their phone) incorrect, it is in no way to conducive to what most kids are after:

Improved sport performance.

Do you honestly think some bro style, chest, back, shoulders, arms, legs (what are those) split is going to be the best prescription for an athlete looking to increase speed, power, and strength?

Not in a million years.

If athletics asked skinny teenagers to take cringey mirror pictures in a room full of recessed lighting where other strangers moved their limbs, I’d be all for it.

But when I watch the kids who are actually being professionally trained put the aforementioned kids into positions that resemble a lawn chair on the field/mat, I stick to my guns.

Our kids, just like they need teaching in the classroom, need coaching, ESPECIALLY in the weight room.

Obviously from a safety perspective, but when you factor in the reality that real S&C Training is the lowest hanging fruit and biggest athletic performance enhancing tool, it becomes a no brainer for those who desire to reach their maximum potential.

To put the icing on the cake, NOTHING is more expensive than wasted time.

Hire a real coach.
